Captain Steeeve

Dr. Steve Scheibner, known to many as Captain Steeeve, has become a recognizable voice in aviation media by sharing the excitement, culture, and real-world appeal of flying with a wide online audience. As a YouTube aviation creator with more than 1.1 million subscribers, he has built a following through a combination of deep experience, clear storytelling, and genuine enthusiasm for the industry.

Long before his online career, Dr. Scheibner built a solid foundation in aviation. He earned his Wings of Gold as a U.S. Navy aviator in 1984 and flew the P-3 Orion on active duty for eight years, logging about 3,500 hours and completing three deployments. He continued serving in the Navy Reserve, rising to the rank of Commander, working as a flight instructor, and developing leadership and core-values training programs for thousands of sailors. In 1991 he joined American Airlines, where he spent more than three decades flying Boeing aircraft—including the 727, 757, 767, and 777—accumulating well over 12,000 total flight hours before retiring as a captain.

In addition to his aviation and military career, Dr. Scheibner holds a Doctor of Ministry degree and has spent many years as a speaker, author, and pastor, with a strong interest in leadership, character, and purposeful living. Deja Hubbard

Deja Hubbard is the Director of Talent Acquisition Outreach at Alaska Airlines, where she focuses on building the aviation workforce of the future. She leads early-career and pathway programs that connect aspiring pilots and aviation maintenance technicians with real opportunities, working directly with schools, colleges, military partners, and industry organizations across the West to expand access and strengthen the talent pipeline.

Deja’s perspective on aviation is shaped by firsthand experience. She began her career with Alaska Airlines as a flight attendant in 2012, and over the years moved into recruiting, talent strategy, and outreach leadership. That path has given her a broad understanding of the industry and of the many ways people build careers within it.

Today, her work spans Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air, and Hawaiian Airlines, where she helps translate long-term workforce needs into structured programs and partnerships that support hiring quality, workforce readiness, and sustainable career pathways. She works across departments including flight operations, maintenance and engineering, talent acquisition, and executive leadership, bringing together the people and institutions needed to open doors for the next generation entering the field.

Andy Schneider

Andy Schneider is President and CEO of Horizon Air and a longtime leader within the Alaska Airlines family, where she began her career in 1989 as a manager of financial accounting. What started in the accounting department grew into one of the most broad-ranging careers in the organization, over more than three decades, Andy has led across operations, inflight and call center services, people strategy, and executive leadership. That long view gives her a deep and practical understanding of how airlines work, how communities depend on them, and what it takes to build a culture where people want to build careers.

Andy's path to the CEO role was not a straight line. Before leading Horizon, she served as Senior Vice President of People for Alaska Airlines, where she guided talent and culture strategy for more than 30,000 employees across Alaska, Hawaiian, and Horizon. She also led inflight and call center services and oversaw station operations, customer relations, and labor relations, experiences that shaped her belief that good leadership starts with listening.

Throughout her career, Andy has helped guide teams through some of the most challenging moments in modern aviation, including 9/11, the 2008 financial crisis, COVID, and major mergers, while keeping a clear focus on safety, reliability, and the people doing the work. A native of Boise and a graduate of Gonzaga University, she holds an Executive MBA from the University of Washington.

Gary Baumgardner

Gary Baumgardner is a Boeing 777 First Officer for a major airline whose aviation career began close to home and has grown into a notable presence in both commercial flying and aviation media. He started flight training at 15, earned his Private Pilot Certificate at 18 through Tacoma Narrows Airport, and graduated from Gig Harbor High School before launching a professional path in aviation. Hired by PSA Airlines at just 19, he flew the CRJ as both a First Officer and Captain before joining a major airline, where he has flown the Boeing 737, Airbus A320, and now the Boeing 777.
